  • The Friends have been looking after Owley Wood in Weaverham for the past ten years.The main activity of the is maintaining the wood by clearing litter, making and repairing fences and paths and controlling invasive vegetation.We also encourage the community to make use of the wood, particularly the local schools. To this end we have just produced a Teachers Pack so that the wood can be part of the childrens learning experience.We meet monthly, on the second Tuesday, in the scout hall at 1930, and actions days are generally on the third Saturday. Membership is free and open to all. The group is linked to a dozen other woodland groups in the Cheshire and Merseyside area, so there is plenty of opportunity for training and social events.Anybody who would like to know more should call Noel Woodhead on 01606 852960 or e-mail Owley.Wood@virgin.net
