Further Description
  • Now in its 13th year (2006), the Heather Music Festival has grown out of all recognition from its humble beginnings.  Originally intended as a one-off event back in 1993 to raise funds for the repair of the village church roof, the Festival was such an instant hit with residents in Heather and with the communities in many of the surrounding villages, that it was decided to make it an annual fixture.  Music to suit just about ever taste, from classical, through rock, blues, folk, country, Irish, Cajun, to 1940's swing and World music - is performed by both local amateur artists and visiting professionals at four venues across the village, including huge marquees with stages in the grounds of the Queens Head and Crown Inn pubs.  This year the festival has moved its dates - the classical concert is on Saturday 29th July at St John the Baptist village church, and all the other gigs and concerts will be staged on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 4th, 5th & 6th August.   We welcome new members to our organising committee at any time, to help with a wide range of tasks in organising the Festival.  We meet every two weeks from September to July at either the Queens Head or Crown Inn.  For an informal chat, please call either Graham Venables (Chairman) on 01530 264942 (evenings) or Simon Nickerson (Vice Chairman) on 01530 263454 anytime.
