Further Description
  • 25th Lincoln (Scothern) Scout Group    Camping – Night Hikes – Orienteering – Craft making – Pancake Races – Worm Farms – Cycling – Catapult Making – Fire Safety – Local History   These are all just some of the activities that the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of the 25th Lincoln (Scothern) Group have been getting up to in and around Scothern.    Though based at the Scothern Recreation Hall for historical reasons, there are a number of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from other villages including Sudbrooke, Dunholm and Welton. All three sections meet on Tuesday evenings.    Scouting is open to any young person, of any creed or colour, mental or physical capabilities and of any gender. The age ranges of the sections are as follows:Beavers – Age 6 to 8 yrs  Cubs – Age 8 to 10½ yrs Scouts – Age 10½ to 14 yrs   The aims of scouting can be summarised as providing an opportunity for young people to develop, to learn and to enjoy themselves. Scouting can offer a wide range of skills and services. Scouting is not just about schemes, awards and badges. The 'games' and adventurous activities are very important to Scouting, not just because they are enjoyable, but also because they are important in the young persons’ development.    Like many organisations, Scouting is a voluntary organisation and relies on support and help from adults for occasional help on a meeting night to a more active role as a warranted Leader or Assistant Leader. We are particularly looking for more help with the Scout Section.   Last year was the Year of The Volunteer, next year is the Centenary of the Scouting Movement, so this year come and join or help to start the build up to 2007, the Hundredth Year of Scouting.  If you would like to know more about young people joining, or as an adult helping please contact me, Nick Cornwell-Smith (otherwise known as Skip) on 01522-753689 (home) or via e-mail: nicholas.cornwell-smith@ukgateway.net
