  • Halsway Manor Society operates from Halsway Manor, Crowcombe, Somerset, the HQ,�a beautiful old Somerset mansion house, a centre for Traditional Folk Music, Dance and Song. The charitable objective ionvolve the teaching and practice of English traditions in all their forms. If you are interested in joining the Society it costs �10 per year. In the unlikely event of the Company being wound up the liability by guarrantee is only 50 pence. This year we celebrate our 40th anniversary and seek to increase membership to a thousand.We are open 52 weeks a year as a residential centre offering hirers a venue for dance groups, Song clubs, choirs, musicians, players, etc. Many weekends are filled in this fashion. e.g. English country Dancing, Scottish Country Dancing, Irish set dancing, American Contra Dancing,�to mention but a few. We also tend to have space available during the mid-week periods when often there are conferences and weddings.(10% discount during the week)There�are regular groups who meet at the manor : Halsway folk Dance Group 1sr & 3rd Weds (except August), Halsway Contra Group 2nd Weds (except August), Somerset Playford last Weds (except May-Aug & Dec), West Somerset Morris every Thursday, Sunday club 1st Sunday each month except August.The library is unique containing a 1000 books records and tapes on folk music concentrating mainly on the south west.
