  • FRIENDS OF VILLA ADASTRA is an organisation that was set up to support the Elderly Care Resource Centre that is housed in the impressive building in Keymer Road, adjacent to the Adastra Park, in Hassocks. The friends raise money throughout the year, through coffee mornings, fayres, lunches, social events and street collections. The monies raised go a long way to providing extras within the home, which the day-to-day budget cannot supply. The total number of residents is forty, and there is a 20-place day centre within the building.Residential care is provided for those who are simply too frail to look after themselves in their own homes. Convalescent care for those requiring assistance and support on discharge from hospital. Respite care enables carers, who spend many hours looking after the elderly, and in many cases this can be a relative, to take an occasional and well-earned break away from their responsibilities, while the person themself makes new friends in a different environment.
