Further Description
  • St. John Ambulance, Royston DivisionSt. John Ambulance is a charity organisation and relies on volunteers to support the divisions. Royston St. John Ambulance Division is a small division with a small group of volunteers of all ages and we need to recruit now.Our age groups range from just 6 years old to 65 years of age and are split into 3 age groups:St. John Badgers (6yrs - 10yrs):learn basic first aid ranging from the most minor of cases to the very essentials. Evenings also include a variety of games.Badgers pick up a number of valuable skills, some related with first aid and others that are completely different. Recognition for achievement is essential within this age group, so therefore cups, awards and badges can all be achieved in order to gain the 'Super Badger Award', the highest award in the St. John Badgers!St. John cadets (10yrs - 18yrs):learn a variety of first aid and take yearly assessments in order to gain their own first aid certificate. Cadets learn a number of skills ranging from fire fighting to casualty simulation. Social evenings are frequent and social trips are yearly. Promotion and awards are done on a yearly basis in order to recognise those who have worked hard and/or have achieved well. A variety of awards are on offer to cadets. Skills are important and experience is one of the best ways of learning. Therefore, cadets not only have the opportunity to become aqualified first aider, but also have the chance to contribute to first aid cover for all types of events and to do the job for real!Adult Division (18yrs - 65yrs):Here, you can learn how to deal with all aspects of first aid and how to deal and cope with different situations. Adults contribute to covering events and take yearly assessments in order to become fully qualified with St. John Ambulance. Training is free and St. John Ambulance is held out of working hours. Social evenings are frequent and awards and promotion is all on offer. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Royston St. John Ambulance Division, then please call our Head Quarters on 01763 235979 or e-mail us at royston@herts.sja.org.uk for more information.
