  • Week St Mary is a rural village with a population of approximately 600 has its own Post Office/general store, Anglican Church, Methodist Church, Parish Hall and two public houses. It is fairly unique in as much that it has little through traffic, the village is accessed via country lanes from the A39. A person suffering from a heart attack could die within 8 minutes or be severely brain damaged in this time hence the need for a first response service within the village itself a team trained with the proper equipment that could respond in a time of perhaps 5 minutes or less depending on the location within the village and its outskirts.That is why the village is raising the money to purchase a heart defibrillator so that if someone in the village does suffer a heart attack the patient can be treated much more quickly than if an ambulance or doctor had to be called from outside the area.
