  • The organisation is 150 years old, is a registered charity and is supported by a Unit Management Committee and Parents and Supporters Association. The Cadets meet at their Riverside, Gorleston headquarters (near the old Ice House) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1930 to 2130. It is open to all young people aged 12 to 18 of both genders and from any ethnic group. There is also a junior section for 10 to 12 year olds. Uniform is supplied free but a weekly subscription of �2 is paid. The Cadets operate in a challenging environment learning subjects designed to develop teamwork and leadership skills and enable them to develop socially as well. Subjects taught include seamanship, sailing, power boating, 5-a-side football, marine engineering, firefighting, knots, rifle and squad drill, target shooting. They can attend 1 week or 2 week training courses at Royal Navy establishments and visit RN ships.
