  • Godalming MuseumLocated at 109a High Street, Godalming, the museum exists to celebrate and explore the history of a country town with a rich industrial past; notably in cloth making and knitting. Godalming was also the first town in the world to have a public electricity supply.Distinguished people associated with the town include General James Oglethorpe, Gertrude Jekyll, Sir Edwin Lutyens, Sir Winston Churchill and the 'Titanic' hero, Jack Phillips, all of whom are celebrated in the museum.Located on two floors, upstairs are local history displays and the local studies library; downstairs are displays about Jekyll and Lutyens, gift shop and a lively programme of exhibitions. Tea and coffee is available for a small charge.The museum is open from 10am to 4pm in Winter and 10am to 5pm in the Summer from Tuesday to Saturday. The library is open from 1pm to 4pm.
