Further Description
  • 17 April 2010 - 7.30pm

This concert has a mainly romantic feel with one of the most famous works in the symphonic repertoire, Tchaikovsky's 'Symphony No.5', along with a work written by Puccini when he was only 22 years of age 'Messa di Gloria', in which can be heard hints of the operatic greatness that was to be his. The programme opens with Totus Tuus, written by Polish composer Gorecki, as a tribute to Pope John Paul II on his celebrated return to his native Poland.
