Further Description
  • Following the success of the previous biennial event which alternates with Party in the Park, the village of Dingley is opening its gardens from 2pm until 6pm on Sunday 17th June 2012. Up to ten gardens of different sizes and styles will be open across the village, some with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and in most cases the owners will be available to answer questions about their gardening. Plants may be available to buy at certain gardens.

Nestled within the picture postcard Church Lane in Dingley is the Village Hall bequeathed to the village in 1956 by BFG Currie. Once a workshop for the Dingley Hall Estate, it is now a focus for local events and seat of a thriving community. Teas and homemade cakes will be served in the Village Hall, which is close to the car park and cold drinks will also be available on route at selected gardens. Toilets are available in the Village Hall too.

Entrance to the event is £3 per adult, which includes parking; under 16’s are free. For maximum enjoyment there will be no preset route to follow as passes and programmes will be available from any of the open gardens or the car park. All monies raised are to help maintain the Village Hall and support the Church Appeal.

As an accompaniment and a change from the gardens there will also be a Display of Shoes in the Church.

    Directions:

Dingley is just outside Market Harborough on the A427 heading towards Corby. The Car Park will be at the centre of the village, in Lordships Paddock at the top of Church Lane and will be signposted from the A427 Harborough Road / Main Road, the postcode for SatNavs is LE16 8PQ. This site is reputed to be the location of the Dingley Dell v All Muggleton cricket match as read in the Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens and seen on the back of the old £10 note.
