  • Samaritans’ national awareness day 24:7 is taking place on Sunday 24 July. The aim of 24:7 is to raise awareness of the charity’s round-the-clock availability for people in need of support. Putting the pieces together, 24:7 is the name of this year’s event.

    More than half of Samaritans’ 201 branches have put together images, collages, paintings, abstracts, photos and visual representations of what 24:7 and Samaritans service means to them. These range from photographs of volunteers, to written letters from people thanking the branch for their support, and collages combining all the different things we do in the local community. Every piece of artwork is equally important and contributes to making Samaritans work, 24:7. Two artists are taking ideas from all the submissions to create a national piece of artwork which will be unveiled around the time of 24:7.

    On Saturday 23rd July at 3pm we will be unveiling the finished artwork, together with our own submission which has been specially created for us by local artist Lynn Hughes, at the New Art Gallery Walsall.
