    Apologies.
I am not the only Lindsey resident suffering with back pain in the past month; it’s not as if I can remember any specific act of lifting or sudden unusual movement that brought about this sorry state of affairs. I am now faced with the prospect of hospital visits to see if something else is causing the pain. However, one of the most disturbing side affects of back pain is how short your temper becomes, hence my apologies if I have been somewhat curt with my replies or not delivering November’s newsletter round Stackyard Green.

    Awards for Lindsey.
Towards the end of October Vicky Waples, our Parish Clerk, accompanied by her husband, Bernard and together with Adrian Moore and I were invited to the Village of The Year award presentation ceremony at Tattingstone. As you know Lindsey came second in the Babergh District receiving a framed certificate and a cheque for £200. Tattingstone not only won the Babergh District competition but went on to win the County competition, Coddenham came second with Gt.Livermere third. The award for Parish Council of the Year is the gift of The Suffolk Association of Local Councils under the chairmanship of Mrs. Rona Burt. Mrs. Burt was full of praise for Vicky in the concise way the Agenda’s and Minutes were prepared and presented. I have nothing but praise for Vicky and the way she conducts our council’s affairs. We are lucky to have Vicky as Parish Clerk as she is extremely well qualified. Every Parish Council in Suffolk was eligible for this accolade and Lindsey came out on top. Well done Vicky.

    Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The house to house collection returned £181.54 for the appeal. Here again the result was down can be put down to my bad back. I normally go round the village two times, remembering who was out the first time and calling on them the second time.

    Remembrance in Lindsey.
What a marvelous turnout, over forty residents attended the Remembrance Day service at St Peter’s. The Revered Gerald Drew conducted the service, Patrick Friend our organist. Chairman of the Parish Council, David Waldron presented a wreath to the fallen from this village during the Great War. I realise that this Country has not been involved in a “War” since the end of the Second World War but we seem to have been involved in numerous conflicts resulting in the loss of life or serious injury to our service men and women. The need to remember them is now greater than ever and it was heart warming to see so many in the congregation doing just that.

Lindsey Parish Council Meeting November 9th.
I have been asked to add to the next newsletter of the quest for suitable sites for affordable housing. On a personal note, the quest for affordable housing sites has been going on for so long it makes me wonder if any will be built at all.

    Affordable Housing.
In 2009 Suffolk ACRE undertook a joint Housing Needs Survey within the Parishes of Kersey, Lindsey and Monks Eleigh that identified a need across the three parishes for 8 – 10 homes. Orwell Housing Association has been working in partnership with the three Parish Councils, Suffolk ACRE and Babergh District Council to identify sites that may be suitable for a small development of affordable homes for local people to rent. A site at Back Lane, Monks Eleigh, suitable for 6 homes has now proceeded to planning application stage and will be determined by Babergh District Council next month. These will be let to families with a local connection to Monks Eleigh and Lindsey.
The site at Vale Lane, Kersey, suitable for two homes has now been withdrawn due to lack of local support. It has now been suggested that Lindsey be assessed for a site that would be suitable for 2 houses to meet local housing needs. Continued on page 2
