Further Description
  • What is U3A?

    U3A (The University of the Third Age) provides opportunities for

    * Learning activities,
    * 'Doing' activities,
    * Companionship,
    * Outings,

    for people who have 'retired' from full time employment.

    U3A is part of the Third Age Trust (a registered charity) and comprises some 724 locally organised U3A bodies who operate under the guidance of a Central Office in Bromley, Kent.

    Ledbury and District U3A was formed in 2003 and currently has about 300 members. It is run by a Committee elected from the membership by the membership. The Committee exercises general oversight of the 'Interest Groups' in which the majority of activities take place. We are a registered charity, No.1104465.

    Ledbury & District U3A Members pay a modest annual fee. In return they become entitled to:

    * Attend the Monthly General Meeting in Ledbury
    * Join the Interest Groups we run
    * Receive our own quarterly newsletter and a monthly magazine from Central U3A
    * Join in our Outings organised from time to time
    * Attend courses run by Central U3A or on-line learning through links with the Open University.

    (There is a nominal charge levied for attendance at our Monthly General Meetings and Interest Group meetings, to cover incidental costs.)
