Further Description
Lindsey Newsletter February 2012
Newsdesk: Ian Mac Gregor [01787 211521]
February Newsdesk Sub:Adrian Moore [01787 210003]
Ian Mac Gregor
As most of you will know, Ian is not too well at present and is confined to his bed with spinal problems that are causing him extreme pain and suffering. These problems and other complications have dogged Ian since September of last year and it is a great sorrow to see him both inactive and in great discomfort. We all miss you, Ian, and extend every good wish to you and Shirley and we pray that you make a speedy recovery.
This month’s Newsletter will be a short summary of village news assembled by the ‘temporary staff’.
Welcome
Welcome to Simon and Charlotte (Charlie) Boggis and sons Ned (almost three) and baby Monty who have moved from Edwardstone into the Granary behind Swallows Farm Barn.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Tom Hurd, son of proud parents Jason & Paula. Tom is currently in California and is one of the top 20 UK engineering students studying overseas. He has been awarded a £1,000 scholarship by the Santander Bank. Jolly well done, Tom.
Errata
We apologise for one or two errors that crept into previous Newsletter Diary Dates.
February 5th St. Peter’s, Lindsey 9.30am
This is a Service of Thanksgiving NOT a Communion Service
There are also new dates for the August Community Service and Harvest Festival
Village Supper Saturday 21st January
The village hall was filled to capacity with 48 participants enjoying the excellent food provided by Cheryl Salisbury and her team. This annual event has become a highlight on the village hall calendar and is so popular that many village residents invite friends and relatives from neighbouring villages. The charge for the evening is set to cover costs only, but a highly successful raffle produced a profit of £96 on the night. A vote of thanks goes to the Village Hall Committee for arranging this event and to those who set up tables and cleared the hall the next morning.
Lindsey Launches Initiative
Although more details are yet to emerge, we have been informed that there will be a Diocesan initiative led by the Bishop to compile a document that will be delivered to the Queen recognizing and thanking her for her inspiration and service to the nation and Church. This formal letter will be signed by all the churches in the Diocese and
our church of St. Peters, Lindsey has been asked to launch this initiative with, we believe, press coverage at the Service of Thanksgiving on February 5th. What a wonderful honour for our small village! This service recognizes the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Accession to the throne; the 350th anniversary of the Book of Common Prayer and also celebrates the re-dedication of our restored altar frontal cloth in our lovely church.
The service will be taken by Bishop Nigel Stock and will include secular ‘factoid’ readings about Her Majesty, anthems by Serendipity choir, the launch of the Diocesan Initiative, uplifting hymns, a sermon by Bishop Nigel and rounding off with refreshments in the Village Hall. We hope to see you there at this important event.
Friends of Lindsey Church
At a recent committee meeting of the Friends of Lindsey Church, Ian Mac Gregor and Adrian Moore both declared they would not stand for re-election. They were thanked for their hard work and contribution. The Friends are delighted to announce that Rhett Corcoran will join the committee. If you are interested in becoming a Friend or would like to join the committee please contact Ann Moore, Chairman [01787 210003] or Lucinda Salway, Secretary [01449 740723]
