    Joke of the Month
10 years ago Bob Hope died
5 years ago Johnny Cash died
A couple of months ago Steve Jobs died
A few weeks ago Jimmy Saville died

The country is in a mess. Now we have no Hope, no Cash, no Jobs and nobody left to Fix It!

    From the Rectory
February brings us the Bishop’s visit to St Peter’s at 9.30am on Sunday 5th. This service, celebrating the Queen’s Accession, has been chosen to launch what is called the Big Thank You to Her Majesty. The press and radio presenters will be coming. It is a formal letter for us all to sign in appreciation of Her Majesty’s loyal service to the Church on behalf of her people, for her faithfulness and witness as Supreme Governor of the Church of England and devoted service to the Nation. The Bishop’s Office thought somewhere small and rural would be the ideal place for the launch.

As we are still near the beginning of the New Year I thought it might be a good idea to mention The Roundabout to you. This is a magazine for all the villages in this area casting a wider net even further than our Benefice of six villages. It is not just about Church services, but about all events going on…..not every village is as fortunate as Lindsey having its own newsletter. I also find it very useful for the adverts. It is the ideal place to find a chimney sweep, a man with a van or a good boarding kennel for your dog! Unlike the Lindsey Newsletter, it is a more substantial booklet, and therefore there is a small charge of £3.50 a year. You have missed two issues so shall we say £3.00….!! There is not much you can but for 30 pence a month these days. The money does help the church as does the revenue from the adverts so if you would like a copy please contact me or Adrian Moore or Ian MacGregor, who are now stapling and delivering the 20 copies which already are distributed in Lindsey.

Looking forward to my sticky toffee pudding at the Village dinner and seeing St. Peter’s full on the 5th February.

    Rev’d Barbara Stanton
