Further Description
  • Aims  We aim to provide the best service possible in Manual Medicine and Osteopathy. We undertake to give a rapid and accurate diagnostic appraisal of your situation and if it is within our remit provide you with an affordable solution to the problem. If it falls outside our scope of expertise we would propose, and discuss, all viable approaches that may produce a satisfactory solution for you. We have no issues with age, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity.   Osteopathy  Osteopathy is a branch of manual medicine that places specific emphasis on the importance of proper functioning of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopaths diagnose problems that occur to the muscles and skeleton and use manual techniques known as manipulations or adjustments to correct them. These can be either fairly robust or extremely gentle depending on what is required to produce a solution. For instance the treatment approach would be entirely different in the case of a 25 year old rugby prop forward with a strained low back in comparison to that used on a three week old child with abdominal colic. In our practise we use a number of other treatment modalities to increase the scope of our medicine and expertise among them, Cranial Osteopathy,  myofascial acupuncture and electrotherapy. It is our policy to discuss at length the nature of your discomfort, analyse it using mobility tests [gentle tests for joint range of movement] then prepare with you a treatment strategy that gives you the certain knowledge of the scientific validity of our method and thus the confidence to undertake the treatment. We aim to provide you with the guided control of your situation that will produce a rapid and lasting solution. If we are not able to do this [usually in the face of pre-existing neurological or arthritic damage] we undertake to explore strategies that will allow you to minimise your discomfort and maximise your potential.  For further information please see the following websites www.gosc.co.uk  this is the web site of the general osteopathic council.
