  • The Boat pub is a historic part of Yorkshire life where it sits on the edge of the river Aire.Men who worked in the mines used to get the Allerton Ferry across from Castleford and Methley every week for 6d at the end of the day they would call in to the pub before making they're way across the ferry to go home.The pub still stands today,it is a warm welcome family feel pub serving homemade food and proper yorkshire ales from local breweries it also boasts of lovely settings on the banks of the river aire where it is surrounded by a nature reserve this is ideal for people who would use the pub as a base to meet up to go bird watching or to take they're dogs for walks or just simply go for long walks down by the river where you could eventually end up in Leeds!!.Needless to say barges are a big part of this setting and its a great site to see in the summer people mooring up and coming in to the pub for a bit of lunch or just simply a coffee.Also we have Fairbun Ings which is a nature reserve for a lot of wild life.
