Acorn Cottages "OAKLANDS"NORTH RODE,CONGLETON,CHESHIRE, Two tastefully converted Grade II listed traditional farm buildings on a small working farm on the edge of the Peak District. "The Coach House" (sleeps 4/5 plus cot) and "The Shippon" (sleeps 4 plus cot)A warm and friendly welcome will greet you from the Bullock family: Mark, Susan and their children, Winifred and Florence. If requested a grocery supply will be waiting in your accommodation on arrival. "What's on" guides will be available in the cottage on your arrival along with a selection of interesting places to visit. "The Coach House" is a two bed roomed barn conversion offering the modern comforts of under floor central heating with features of beamed ceilings and stone floors. Originally built to house the coach and the horses with lofts over for the stable boys. During the last century it was converted to milking shippons in the stables and turkeys in the loft. Features include: One double bedroom, one large captain's bed and sofa bed available for use in either room. Bath with shower. Cosy underfloor central heating. Colour television and video. CD/radio/cassette player. Gas cooker, fridge and microwave. "The Shippon" is a two bed roomed cow shippon conversion offering the modern comforts of under floor heating, fitted kitchen and shower room. This unit has been designed to be suitable for the less able with wider doors and drive-in shower. Stone flagged floors, oak beams from our own woods and a wood burning stove add character to this converted building which has been used for milking cows and the housing of breeding animals. Features include: One bedroom at first floor, one twin bedded room suitable for the less able on the ground floor. Cosy underfloor central heating Stone fireplace from 18th Century tack room. Colour television and video. CD/radio/cassette player. Electric cooker, fridge and microwave. Other details Washing machine, drying rack, iron, ironing board and freezer in laundry room. Bed linen supplied, beds made up for your arrival. Please bring your own towels. Patio Garden area with tables, chairs & BBQ. Farm produce available (Beef/Lamb/Pork). Ample parking. Co-op late shop - 2 ½ miles. Bus Service(London-Manchester) - 1 mile Just a few restrictions: No smoking in the cottages. No dogs or pets allowed. Situation The farm is situated in an area of natural beauty with rolling pastures divided into patchwork by the tree lined hedges and oak woods. The area is ideal for walking with:The Macclesfield Canal and its locks just up the road; the Manor Park and Lake; the Dane Valley; and the local hill called Bosley Cloud where there are views towards Buxton and the Peak District; Stoke on Trent and its famous Potteries; the Cheshire Plain to Beeston Castle and the Welsh Hills and Manchester to the north. The local towns offer an insight into history with Macclesfield being a silk town and Buxton a Spa town. The area has a wealth of interesting houses to visit:Chatsworth House, home of The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.Tatton Park and its Royal Horticultural Show (the counties answer to the Chelsea Flower Show).Gawsworth Hall, an Elizabethan house with its open-air theatre in the summer.Little Moreton Hall, an Elizabethan National Trust property. Acorn Cottages are ideally situated to explore this part of the kingdom. Easy access from the M6 motorway and Manchester Airport.
