Since 2004, almost one million people have applied to be publicly ridiculed by Simon Cowell on The X Factor. But now, for the first time in seven years, Cowell will no longer be a part of the show, blaming health concerns for his departure from the television programme and claiming that filming both the UK and the US versions of the show would be ‘too much for him‘.
Apparently ITV desperately tried to persuade Cowell to stay with the UK show, even conceding that he wouldn’t have to be present for the auditions (when, in our opinion, he is at his best) and offering to pay for a private jet to fly the star across the Atlantic each week for the show. 
With reports of ‘high stress levels coupled with no sleep’ leading him to decide to take a break, it seems that Cowell has decided that his health is of more concern than money at the moment. We probably would too if we were multimillionaires…
