Let’s face it, one of the downsides of living in the UK isthe fact that the weather is very on and off. Like the proverbial box ofchocolates, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get!

It would be easy to hypothesise, judging by how varied andunpredicted the weather in the UK has been this summer that investing in solarpower isn’t going to benefit you a great deal.

After all, don’t solar panels need lots of sun in order towork properly?

Well, maybe not.

This article will explain why households in the UK that havehad great weather should take advantage and install solar panels. The article will also explainwhy even if you’re in a part of the UK that has had too much rain and notenough Spain, solar panels can still really benefit you.

So, you don’t need lots of sun to make a good living from solar panels?

Obviously, having lots of sun helps and will work to youradvantage. However, you can still get solar panels that work very efficientlyin less sunny months.

Here’s why:

·        You can make the most of the sun you do have andinstall dynamic mounts that make sure your solar panels move according to wherethe sun is shining at that particular point in the day. This can really make adifference.

·        For those who might not want revolving solarpanels, did you know that solar panels work even in cloudy weather? Solarpanels create electrical energy from the solar energy in the air. There willstill be solar particles in the air when the sun isn’t out. Yes, they won’thave quite as much energy, but they will do the job nicely.

Why should I install solar PV?

There are many reasons why installing solar PV is the right thing to do ethically, morally and also financially. Hereare some reasons:

·        You’ll help conserve the environment: Enoughsunlight hits the earth every day to power all of our appliances for a wholeyear! That’s incredible. Why are more people not harnessing this energy?

·        You’ll get excellent cash payments: Yes, becauseof the Feed-In Tariff Scheme (FiTS) you’ll get payments for the energy yougenerate and the energy you sell to the National Grid.

The Energy Conservation Group is an excellent solar PV installer renowned for the immense qualityand efficiency of their installations and the strength of their after salescustomer care. Not only will they install a solar PV system that will workbeautifully, they are not a fit and forget installer and will monitor yourinstallation for you.

  • In the year you buy them they greatly isrceane your energy expense, becasue purchase of the panels IS an energy expense and they are very expensive. Every year after that they will reduice your energy expense becasue they generate energy for you so that you don't need to buy that energy from your electric company, and they use no fuel so, unlike a normal generator, there is no fuel cost. But the amount you save each year is a small fraction of the extra you paid in the year you bought them. If they keep working for 30 years or more, you may save the cost of buying them, but even then you have other financial losses, for example the interest income you could have gotten by putting the money in an interest bearing bank account instead of spending it on the solar panels. And a hail storm can destroy them, and are you sure there will be no hail storm in the next 30 years? Or do you want to buy insurance which will be a cost you have to pay every year. And after all that, what happens if mu
