I wrote a book on the Taylor family history of my grandfather~ Tom Setterington Taylor~ born 1n Burton Agnes 1866~ emigrated to Canada in 1883.The book is on the Net under his name. I am trying to get information on his ancestors John Taylor born 1806 and his wife Mary Tunnacliff born 1806. His father~ also John~ was born about 1780~ all from Burton Agnes. There is a wonderfull new publication by Ulrome resident J Kenneth (Ken)Watson entitled 'Chronicles of Time' which is a history of Ulrome and surrounding areas. This makes wonderfull reading to anyone who has either lived or visited Ulrome. The contents transport the reader back through the years and evoke many memories. Well done Ken!

I have been researching the life of my G.G.Grandmother Ellen Collinson~ who **lived all her life in Burton-Agnes and married John Stephenson~ I know of her **grave~ which is in the new cemetery~ and I have news from the Bridlington Free **Press of 1914~ that prior to her death Ellen was the village nurse. ****I do know that Ellen and her Children which included my Grandfather lived in **one of the Alms Houses at the time~ which wre demolished in 1939 and was **replaced by Home Farm.****I would like to know from any ancestors connected with the village~ or **surrounding hamlets that may recognise there grandparents in the transcript **from the Bridlington Free Press below~ and who also may have some old village **photos probably of village life the old school which was pulled down or nieces **of Ellen~ descendants who attended my G.G~ Grandmothers Funeral in 1914.******This following is a transcript from the Bridlington Free Press on the 23rd of **October 1914.******An inquest was held into the death of Ellen by the local MP Luke White as **follows.****BURTON AGNES**Inquest and Funeral-On Thursday Sir Luke White~ MP held an inquest relative to **the death of Mrs Ellen Stephenson~ aged 73 years~ and widow of Mr John **Stephenson~ of Burton Agnes.****She had died suddenly in her chair about 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening~ in the **presence of her niece~ Mrs~ Fanny Hope~ wife of stud groom Mr Walter Hope. She **had been laughing and talking only a minute before her death. She had been to **Nafferton on Monday to see her niece (Mrs Reed) having availed herself of a **fine day for the outing. On Tuesday night she complained of having tired **herself out with walking~ but no further notice was taken of the trouble.****Dr Eccles~ of Nafferton told the jury that heart failure had been the cause of **death~ and a verdict of "Natural Causes" was returned. Deceased will be greatly **missed in the parish-in fact she had been greatly indispensable. For a great **number of years she had gone out from house to house as a nurse~ having turned **out at all hours of the night to give a helping hand. Of late years she had **been unable to stand night work~ but her thoughts had been centred on many a **home~ as her inquiries had later revealed. The funeral was very largely **attended~ a tribute of the respect of the parish. She**leaves three sons (one~ George being in Canada) and two daughters. Messier~ W. **Down~ G Wright~ G. Milner~ Mrs R Brown Mrs **Wright.****There were several beautiful wreaths~ which had been sent by Harry and Hannah~ **Ada and Albert~ Hannah and William~ Walter and Fanny~ Mrs and Mrs J lower~ Mr **and Mrs G Lowe~ Mr and Mrs Vickerman~ Mrs Baines Mr and Mrs Jackson and family~ **Mrs Milson~ Mrs Cooper~ Mrs Harrison~ Mrs Phillips~ Mrs Harker~ Mr and Mrs **Estill~ and Mrs Duffill~ The funeral service was conducted by the rector~ the **Rev~ C. Hutton Coates~ M.A.**

Spent my happiest times at ULROME during family holidays while married to Nancy (nee Hughes) whose family lived in Ulrome for very many years. Our children Lynne and Stuart also have very fond memories of those times and often speak of them.I still visit Ulrome Church where several of the Hughes family are buried. Brian Richardson
