We have been researching our family and have traced it back to the Allen family who came from Shaftesbury and lived on Gold Hill in the first part of the 1800s. We are from a Samuel Allen and a Sarah Marchant. Their son John Allen was my great grandfather who joined the army at Shaftesbury. Anyone from any of these families still living in the area? • Hi my name is Ian Lewis-Suter but I was born Suter My family are direct decendents of John and Dorothy Suter married in Silton in 1638. We now live in Bridgwater Somerset my father is Richard William Mills Suter and my Grandfather was William Harold Suter of Guilford Surrey but I have traced my families connection with silton from 1612 to Seth Suter who died in 1848. I'm looking for info on Edmund Mooers (perhaps originally spelled Edmund Moores) from Kington Magna who is reported in our 1956 family geneology records as having left Southampton~ England in 1638 on the ship "Confidence"~ and helped to settle Newbury~ Massachusetts. Tracing family history has brought me back as far as Thomas Foot born 1777 in Stoke Trister. He married Elizabeth Kenway 1802. They had 8 children. Harriet~ Charles~ Elizabeth~ John~ Henry~ Williams~ Nathaniel and Robert (perhaps Nathaniel's twin). I am from Nathaniel's line who moved to the Gower and added and 'E' on the end of Foote.
