Searching for information regarding WALKER families of West/East Haddlesey. Part of this WALKER family moved to GREENOAK near EASTRINGTON~ E. Yorks. Just starting on the WALKER line so a lot of basic research to start with. It is the Haddlesey WALKERS I am most interested in as that is where my research starts. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have been informed that a WALKER family tree for HADDLESEY area is at The Treasure House~ Beverley~ does anyone have any info on this???

I am looking for information on my Grandfather Frederick Henry Taylor WALKER who was born in York~ in 1879. **In the Harrogate 1901 Census show that F.H.T.Walker was maiied to Jennie MARWOOD who was born Brompton~ Yorkshire~ in 1873.**Also living with them was Walkers `Niece` Jennie Marwood b. in Northallerton~ Yorkshire~ in 1897. **Q1. Was she Walkers child or was she the daughter of Marwood?**Q2 What happened to Marwood? As Walker ended up in Redcar 10 years later~ with a complete new family and Common Law Wife Ellen Smith~ who was my Grandmother. She was born in 1881 in Sedgeley Staffordshire and **died in Redcar in 1921. **

Searching for information on my GG-GF Makin Durham (1804-1882) who spent most of his adult life in Thorne~ Yorkshire~ England. He was married to Hannah Maria Acaster of Brotherton. They had three children who lived into adulthood: my G-GF Frederick Makin~ Hannah Maria~ and Emma. Makin's birth records recorded in Snaith indicate that Makin was born in Hansall to John Makin (1761-1842-possibly son of Thomas Makin) and Ann Durham (1764-1842-possibly daughter of John Durham and Ann Frier). Makin's brothers were John (1801-1857)~ George (1806-?)~ and Thomas (1808-?). If anyone has any information about this family~ I would appreciate corresponding with you. Thank you~ Catherine

My great great grandfather Vincent Boucher Balne emigrated to South Africa c. 1840 bringing his## 7 year old son William with him. One of Williams' daughters was my mother's mother.## We had a legend of the place with a railway station~ and only a few years ago I searched for and found it.## Guillaume de Balne appears in an early book of Engliish surnames. And William Balne appears on the honours roll at Agincourt.## There are not many Balne's in the world~ and William (coupled sometimes with Boucher) seems to be a family name.## The last male bearer of the name has died in South Africa. I am now in Australia~ where there are none. There appear to be a few in the United States.## I was told that the pronunciation of the name was most partiuclarly Balne resembling Milne -## and decidedly not 'Balan'## I would be grateful for any information. - and also to supply information whihc I have which is certainly of some interest to the town~ I would think. I do have some photographs.## Thanks

I am seeking information on the Lee family~ who were farmers (according to various British Census Returns) at Gateforth~ in the latter half of the nineteenth century. The husband of one of my second cousin's wishes to establish contact with members of the Lee family## his mother was Sarah Ann Lee (married name was Hartley)~ who was born June 22~ 1887~ and moved to Canada after 1913. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has any information about Sarah Ann Lee~ her parents (William Lee## born at Rawcliffe~ about 1841~ son of John and Sarah Lee who were both born about 1800## and her mother Mary Ann Lee## born abour 1850 at Selby). I believe that Sarah Ann Lee had at least four siblings: Lucy Lee (born about 1881)~ John Joseph "Joe" Lee (born about 1882)~ Frederick Lee (born about 1886)~ and William Lee (born about 1879). There also might have been another brother~ Clifford Lee. If anyone can help my cousin's husband track down living Lee relations~ I would be most grateful. Thank you
