I am tracing the family history of the Newcombes. Father William and sons Alfred, Arthur, Robert & Horace all worked at South Kirkby Colliery between 1891 and 1911.
WILLIAM & SARAH died in Hemsworth in March 1911. Husband & Wife die at same time, a terrible tragedy? ROBERT married MARTHA ELCOCK in 1903. HORACE served in the Great War and found out his wife ELIZABETH BARTRUM was living with another man whilst he was away.She died in 1917 and Horace married ELIZABETH PARKIN the same year.
Horace died in Hucknall, Notts in 1925.
Martha Newcombe took in Horace's children (Colliery Cottages, Carr Lane) after their mother left.
I need your help! How did William & Sarah die? Did Robert join the army 1914-1918? So many things do not add up! Family history passed down the generations don't match the documents available. Perhaps some local knowledge will help me solve this puzzle, I hope so.

I'm looking for any references to family or descendants of a married couple Edward Paty and Anna Shillito~ both born in Featherstone~ Yorkshire~ he in 1602+/-~ she in 1606+/-. They immigrated to Barbados and on to the South Carolina colony sometime between 1632 and 1657. I can't find any specific web references to them. I have found references to a Johannes Paty (de Recale) in a "Register of Freemen" from 1272-1302 and a later referrence to an apparent member of Commons from Aylesbury in1704. Also~ on the Shillito side some references in the Feet of Fines for Yorkshire in 1601 for land transfers (messuages~ etc) in Castleford~ Hougheton~ Allerton-by-Water~ Whitwood~ Agbrigg~ Heathe and Warmefielde.**Any thoughts? I'm researching some family history which takes me back to Altofts at the turn of the 20th century. So far I have traced my husbands maternal line to the Jones family (James & Catherine) who lived at 33 Pope Street but I have drawn a blank from there. I have been told they had at least 4 daughters and a son but only know details of 2 Eliza Jane and Elizabeth. If anyone could help me out with some information I would be most grateful.

My grandfather was Ernest Field who lived at Dalton Terrace in Castleford. He married Jane Mannion and they emmigrated to Canada in 1927with their 5 children. His family owned a pub and Fish and Chip joint back in those days. There was a photo of my grandfather with a prize fish as he was quite a fisherman.I would love to find the pub if it still exists. Hello. I have searched family history to Pontefract~ West Riding~ Yorkshire. In 1637 Christopher TODD left England aboard a ship called "The Hector" for America. He landed in New Haven~ Connecticut and settled in upstate New York~ Herkimer County. Does anyone have any information about the Todd family or the Hector? Thank you very much.
