I am having trouble finding links to my grandmother~ Mary Ann knight born 1878~ presumably illegitimate as father is left blank on B Cert~ her mother was also Mary Ann Knight. When she married in approx 1906~ her "father" George Knight (carter) was a witness. I am thinking he must have been her Grandfather. To confuse the whole thing she married a Frank Knight of Bishops Waltham.

Hi I grew up in Thornhill and wonder if anyone can tell me two things## When was Candy's Farm on Candy's Lane demolished - we used to play there during the school holidays - I was born in 1944. Does anyone know the name of the people who lived at the top of the hill on the left when you came into Thornhill from Bitterne - just before you got to the shops such as O'dells~ the barbers~ the papershop etc. He was retired Army I think and we used to call him the Mayor of Thornhill as kids.

For some time I have beenresearching the family history of the Gilbert family. In 1901~Charles William Gilbert~ who was born in Surrey~ was the manager of a lime works in the Bishop Waltham area. I am trying to trace my family tree . I had a grandmother(maiden name Mary Ann knight b.1878 in Binstead) who married Frank Knight b.1880 in Bishops Waltham. Therefore she didnt change her surname on marriage. They lived intil possibly early sixties in Basingwell Street. Any info would be appreciated

My Great Great Grandmother was born in Compton about 1826. Her maiden name was Emily Trodd. Her parents were James and Mary Trodd of Buddlesgate (Lower Half)~ Compton. Emily went on to marry a step son of William Fowlie who was the Land Agent at the Red House~ Hursley~ during the 1840s and 50s. I would be very grateful of any information regarding these families and any present ancestors. I live near Fareham
