I am trying to find out more about my 3 great granfather Frederick Walker (born 1850 in Ireton Wood), his parents were Joseph Walker (born 1807 in Ireton Wood, agricultural labourer) and Ann Hutchinson (born 1806 in Ireton Wood). I have driven around the village, so pretty and some lovely old cottages/barns. Would love to hear from anyone who knows the local history please. Jo

I am researching William Whiskin. He was born in 1831 in Henstridge~ Somerset. He lived in Belper at Alpine Cottage~ Windmill Lane from 1871 until his death in 1903. He was married to Jane Sharp. Jane died in 1895. Any information will be helpful.

I used to go to school in Whatstandwell 1954 to 1961 teachers were infants Mrs Gill and juniors Miss Outram. I remember the round coke stoves with the third of a pint bottles of milk warming round them. I had many friends from around there and my maiden name was Snow. We lived at Homesford just a mile down the A6. It was a long walk to school and back in the bad winters and on one occasion I had to walk on top of the stone walls after the river Derwent broke it banks and flooded the road. Such times!**

Hi~ I am looking for the following family names~ Powlson and Rees. My Great~ great grandmother was Naomi Powlson Rees~ born March 1863~ Duffield. She married John Lewis from Shropshire 1881 in Nantwich. Naomi was the daughter of Thomas Rees~ born 1832 in Repton and Emma Powlson born May 1830 in Hazelwood. They married 1854 in Derby.Naomi had the following siblings Stephen~ Mary and Caroline Elizabeth. They all had the name Powlson as a middle name. My grandmother~ Elizabeth Johnson~ recorded her place of birth as Shuckton Manor~ Mercaston. I have found a Shuckton Manor Farm but wonder if there was originally a Shuckton Manor. Any information would be most welcome
