We are inviting the public with any family trees with a connection to Barlborough to come along and share it and add it to those trees we already hold.The centre will make available its huge archive of materials for further research including , photographs, wills, census, monumental inscriptions. newspaper cuttings etc. Full disabled access, Free Parking.Self service cafe on site. Comfy seating areas where you can sit and browse.

I am tracing my mothers family who lived at Barbers Row Barlborough . My Grandfathers name was Charles Thomas Adams and My Grandmothers Name was Alice Pettinger . They had Five children ~ Benjamin ( B ) 1896 Lillian ( B ) 1898 George ( B ) 1901 Elizabeth ( B ) 1910 John ( B ) 1913 .I know what happened to Lillian And Elizabeth but do not know what happened to Benjamin ~ George and John so if anyone has any information I would be very grateful . Looking to locate family members of Joseph Platts born 1903~ had three sons Laurence (Larry)~ Christopher and Reginald. Larry used to play football for Nottingham Forest in the late 1940's. I have traced my ancestry beck to laughton~ and find that there were Spencer's living in laughton in the 1700's. Can anybody put any light on this subject. I know a Epiphanius Spencer was born 1736 and died 1737. He was buried in the churchyard on 20 July 1738. His father was also called Epiphanius and married a Sarah Petfield in laughton on 16 Nov 1731. This was my 5x Gt Grandfather. In 1744 another son was born to Epipha and named Epiphanius after the child who died at 1 1/2 yrs old. If anyone knows of the where about of old paperwork or the graves i would love to hear from you. I myself was born in maltby but have not really been home for years. Thanks. D.C.Spencer.

My mother's family lived in Woodhouse and Woodhouse Mill. Grandparents were Robert and Nellie Bedford and they lived at 10~ Victoria Road. We all lived in Middlesbrough but~ were often on a train going inbetween. It was the happiest time of our lives~ coming to Woodhouse in the 50's and 60's. My mother's name was Barbara and her sisters were June~ Hilda and Alice. Her brothers were Peter and Bernard. I couldn't believe it when they took everything down on Victoria Road. I think the only thing left is the fish shop. Anyone who remembers my family~ please leave me a message.
