Hello. Would anyone know of Robert Green born to Robert Green~ a Miller. I believe Robert jr was born in c1801 in Ardleigh as he gave on the 1851 census. Robert Green jr is my great great grandfather. His youngest child was my father's grandmother: Jane Rebekah Green. Robert's 4 children with wife no 2~ Sarah Watkins from Wales~ were all born in Heath Weeley and later went to St Osyth to live before they all seem to have travelled far and wide.**Regards~ Julie

I am descended from Robert Page~ of Boxted~ who was born about 1558-1560~ married to Susanna Syckerling a daughter of William Syckerling. **I am interested in knowing and perhaps receiving a picture of the burial site of Robert~who was buried in Boxsted Churchyard. I do not know where that is. Greetings from a direct descendant of the founding family of Raydon~ Suffolk~ England.## Late in the 1800's~ my great-great-grandfather Henry Raydon departed the area of Raydon for the USA in search of a new fortune.## The family moved through the states of Virginia and Kentucky~ settling in Bloomington~ Illinois. Henry Raydon and my grandfather~ Walter Raydon farmed in the area and eventually most of his siblings worked for the local railroad.## This September 6th~ my wife and I journeyed to Raydon and visited the area including St Mary Church to trace genealogy of my family. Finally~ I have located my root of the Raydon Name...## Your community is pleasant and a nice lady living next to the church was helpful.## I would enjoy communicating with anyone from Raydon who may have additional info.## Edwin Arlo Raydon~ Normal~ Illinois~ USA

Alderton John christened 23 March 1783 Langham Essex and John Alderton born 1806 Langham Essex.**I am researching the UK ancestry of my gggrt grand father John Alderton which appears to be a very common name for those days. I have a record of his Australian history but I would like to trace his UK heritage. I have some possible leads but I am unsure if they are the right ones. My gggrt grand father was John Daniel Alderton born 1806? Langham Essex~ on his DC his parents were a John and Elizabeth (Sarah) UNKNOWN surmame. I am wondering if the John Alderton christened on the 23rd of March 1783 in Langham Essex (parents John and Sarah? )was his father. Also if the marriage of a John Alderton in Great Massington Runcton Norfolk in 1783 to Sarah reeder/Reider which corresponds to the christening date of the Langham relative would perhaps be his father. Very confusing yes but if anyone has any possible leads I would greatly appreciate it.**Thankyou Sue Alderton**** **********

Dear Polstead Residents**I am looking for any ?Pilbury? relations past or present to complete my family tree as a gift for my mother. **My Great Grandmother ?Esther Pilbury? was born in Polstead in 1883. Her father was ?James Pilbury? born 1850 in Ringshall which is where I reside now. Esther?s Mother was Mary Ann Dyer who was born c1853 in Hadleigh. I believe that Daniel Dyer was her father who may be the 'D Dyer' engraved on the Methodist Chapel in Polstead Heath?? Esther Pilbury had many Brothers~ Sisters~ Aunts and Uncles who lived in Polstead and Polstead Heath. **I have been told by my Uncle that he visited an elderly lady relative around 1952. She lived in a small cottage very close to the Polstead Pond. The Lady gathered water from the pond to use in the cottage~ where inside~ she took my Uncle down a few steps into what he remembers as a walk in pantry where half pigs were hanging. The elderly woman sliced some meat from the hanging pig and proceeded to collect eggs from the chickens outside in the garden. They enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs inside the cottage.**If any of the above seems familiar to you or if you have any information regarding my Pilbury ancestors or their spouses and family to follow~ I would be extremely interested.**Please contact me on 01473 658131 or email soxley790@btinternet.com**I fully appreciate people have very busy lives however any help you can give to assist me on my family tree would be gratefully received. **Best regards**Mrs Sadie Oxley**

This is just an update on the last entry .I had a senior moment and said my teacher at Brantham village school was mrs Walters but that was the teacher in Baylham. The teachers were Miss Turnerand Mrs Howes.. I also Would like to Know if the Girling Family are still in the area ~we went to school with them Gay and Stuart Their grandfather was called Scottie and he looked after the last 14 retired suffok punch Horses to work on the farm .I also wanted to know if you are aware that Brantham Hall was the site of the chief house over several hundred years~ when i was at school we had to do a project that covered the history of the area Mr Keeble the owner told us that when the front driveway to the hall was dug up for repairs ~Roman water pipes were found. also that the house at a later date was moated..Not far away ~I have no idea if it still exists but there was a old quarry where stone age flint arrows etc were found these used to be in the British museum ..as we are talking 1950s i'm not sure that any of this is general knowledge any more.
