John Wilks
Ingatestone, Essex (2.1 miles away)
My 3 times great grandfather John CORLEY was born about 1787 and married Hannah HARE. They both died in Fryerning and are buried there, he in 1826, she in 1868. They had at least 10 children, all born in Ingatestone between 1803 and 1826. I have so far failed to trace Baptismal Records for any of them, but there is a suggestion they may have been Congregationalists. Does anyone have access to any church records for the 1800s ? John himself may have been born locally, and I'd dearly love to know where. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching the TURNER family line. I am stuck at around 1733 when Thomas ans Mary TURNER baptised their son, also Thomas, at the church or St Lawrence in Blackmore, Essex. Has anyone any information regards where Thomas and Mary came from prior to 1733. Alternatively any information regarding the family after they moved to South Weald, Essex.

His parents were George Thomas Brewster (born 1867) and Elizabeth Fry (born 1873 in Yorkshire). George died in 1907 and Elizabeth married Alfred Sitch.

The Clements family are well documented and can easily be traced back to JOHN CLEMENTS born in 1676 at Good Easter. Still as you last logged this in about 2 years ago, one would imagine that by now you will have been swamped with information.

Hello Frank....If you are still interested. I have researched my grandfather's branch of the Lee family in Good Easter. They lived at Smallshoes.(a cottage where I visited my uncle Harry Lee as a child.) I have traced our branch back to William Lee 0f Smallshoes who was a agricultural engine driver at Great Newarks Farm.He first appears in the 1861 census in Good Easter. His Family was still in the village until Harry's death about 120 years later.Let me know if you would like more details. Sue Fraser

I'm researching a colonial relative~ Gabriel Archer who arrived with Capt John Smith in Jamestowne VA~ USA in 1606. Gabriel Archer is identified as having come from Mountnessing and I'm wondering if there is anyway to validate his existence in Mountnessing and if their are any relatives who remain in the area?****From what I've discovered he was a very significant individual in the founding of this first English colony in North America.

I live in San Antonio~ Texas and have recently discovered that I am a direct descendant of John Brown~ Jr~ born in Ingastestone around 1650. His father John Brown Sr.~ was born in England as well in 1626~ but my reference does specify Ingatestone. This intrigues me because I am retired from the USAF and have spent much time in the vicinity of Witham~ Braintree~ and and RAF Weathersfield without knowing of the family connection. If there are any descendants of John Brown Jr/Sr in Ingatestone (both of whom left in the latter 1600's to go to Virginia and/or North Carolina) please contact me.

Trying to trace ancestor Isabella Drury born c1801 Mountnessing Essex father Meeson Drury and Mother Susannah (not sure if spelt correctly for the time). Presume the parents born 1780's. I think Meeson is the surname of the father's mother.

Hi my name is Candi Degrande and I am searching for my husbands family. Samuel Palmer born 1817 Writtle and his wife Mary Newman born 1818 in Margaretting. I know they lived out their life in the area of Essex County~ around Margaretting & Chelmsford. I know for a fact of two children William born 1848 and Elizabeth born in 1844. I think both children were born in Margaretting. I know Samuel was a farm laboror and a gardner. Samuels dads name was John Palmer and Mary Newmans dads name was Joseph Newman. Samuel and Mary got married 3-14-1841. William their son came to America and it is believed that other family members went to Canada. **Please if any of this sounds familar please do not hesitate to contact us~ we would love to hear from you. **Most Sincerely~**Danny & Candi DeGrande **cinnamon@molalla.net
