I found some Ryarsh Parish records online and found a James Welles christened on 13 Mar 1792 to a Nicholas WELLES. This happens to be the EXACT date of my 'brick wall' James Welles was to have been born (according to his headstone in Norwalk, Huron Co., Ohio, USA). The first actual proof of James I can find is his marriage to Persis EARLE in Windsor Co., Vermont, USA in Dec 1810.

After finding this record in Ryarsh, I have scoured all emigration records to Canada and America I can find for the timeframe 1792-1810 ... no James or Nicholas with right age is found.

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with the WELLES/WELLS family who lived in Ryarsh in the mid- to late-1700s. Nicholas' father 'appears' it might be James WELLES according to the same Ryarsh Parish records.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am researching my late mother-in-law's family. She was Nellie Jay. I have gone back to 1816 with her great-grandfather Richard Jay. He was married to Ann(nee Webb) and worked at the Chalk Pits~being Manager by the 1841 Census.They had quite a few children~ two of whom we have traced. Are there descendents of any of the others - Elizabeth~ Wiliam~ Hannah~ Sarah etc?

hi my name is russell palmer and i am a direct relative of one of the landlords of the golden lion pub in luddesdown.You can see the picture hanging in the pub opposite the bar.Its turn of the century approx 1901 my relative george henry palmer is standing outside.has anyone got a copy of this pic that they could send me as i have requested one from the current landlord but am still waiting.....verrrrrry urgent!!!!! many thanks
