My relatives lived~ in the late 1800's~ in Shepherds House~ Stragglethorpe. I believe that this was a row of cottage and think it may have been reborn as the Shepherds Pub. I would welcome any information regarding wether or not I'm right.

Gotham, Nottinghamshire (4.1 miles away)
Dear Sir~ or Madam~ **while searching the net I entered the name Gotham in a search engine to see if anything interesting would be returned. My reason being that my Mother~ Glenis Ryan nee James was from there~ in 1967 she married a James Ryan from the County of Mayo~ Republic of Ireland. I and my twin brother were born in Nottingham General Hospital on August 11th (As laterwere Peter and Stuart~ three more brothers were **born in Ireland~ Anthony~ Andrew~ and Timothy.)**My Mother had a sister Pauline~ they were the only children of George Arthur Alice James (I believe there is some connection to a family called Cooksie?).My mothers dad was for a long time a bus driver with the South Notts Bus Company~ my Grandmother worked at Ramson and Marls? in Bunny~ during the war. ** I will have to search around to find some address~ but I remember a house at Bidwell Cresent~ (Grandparents) any my first home at Meadow End. behind a church or service hall? also my Mother and Father ran the Sun bar for a couple of years **Sadly my Mother died a number of years ago while living in Castlebartown~ County **Mayo the West of Ireland~ from Cancer. Her sister Pauline Swift nee James died a few years afterwards~ and both a buried together in Castlebar Cemetery along with Paulines husband Harold Swift~ **who used to drive for Thompson & Jowett~ International Haulege firm. I remember meeting in 1981~ on a visit to Gotham some of my Grandfathers brothers and sisters~ Len James~ Ernest James and Lilian who lived near the back of the Star~ but I am afraid I cannot remember the street. I also met another brother and his wife of my Grandfather~ Mr Alan and Doreen James in Nottingham. In 1968 my father decided to move the family to live in Ireland~ that year I believe my Grandfather died. Hopefuly it may be possible to post a message on your site to see if I can establish contact with anybody who might have **known or rember the family. I will then be able to fill in some details of what happened in our time in Ireland~ how my twin and myself served over 21 years each in the Irish Defense Forces and **served with the United Nation Peacekeeping Force in South Lebanon (UNIFIL) and how I now come to be married and living in Transylvania~ Romania. **Thank you for taking the time to read this~**yours Kevin A. Ryan~ a Gothamite along way from **Nottinghams green fields and shady forests.
