I have recently found out I had ancestors who lived at Asslington Hall, back in the mid and late 1800's. I would very much like to locate a photograph of the hall, if one exists. I realise the hall burnt down in 1957, but I thought maybe a resident has an earlier record of it. Fingers crossed, in any case!

I live in Australia, or I would do more hands-on research myself.

  We actually visited Assington Hall yesterday (my daughter's church had an Away Weekend there) This prompted me to research the Hall and in doing so found this link. I'm sure that by now you will have seen this but include it anyway! (I am interested in Family History and my G. Grandparents married in Assington Church)

I am trying to find information on my greatgreatgreat grandfather John Alston~ born 1785 at Great Cornard. I believe he married Sarah ? and there were a number of children including my gggrandfather William. Believe Sarah must have died and later John married Lydia.

domesday book has little maplestead written as parvae mapestead## i am searching for a family history name connection of mapstead/mepstead to the now given name of little maplestead church/village...the mepstead name traveled in 1826 from county kent ~ england to new south wales australia~ and from there in 1856 to san bernardino~ california~ usa~ where the name was taken as mapstead...mepstead name still remains in england and australia... any ideas?...thank you~ noel oard mapstead

I am looking for my 'Doe' family who lived in Mount Bures between 1880 and 1950. Anyone who has any info on the Does~ I would really appreciate an email as i am trying to piece together my family tree. My great grandfather Sidney Thomas Doe and his wife Annie Doe maiden name Frost lived in the village with their daughter and my grandmother Betty Doe. John Drane came to Australia on "The John" in 1832. Records and documents I have list his parents as John Drane and Jane (Jayne)Godfrey. I am now 44. I lived in Greenfield Drive in 1977 till 1978. I can only remember so many names ... The Da Silvas- Jon~ Sandra~ Phil~ Ines. Andy McEwan~ Nigel Collings~ Philip Thomson~ Sue think was McEwan~ Colin Jenkins (gorgeous lad!!!) Ivan Dyer. I would really love it if anyone (with a better memory than me) Would drop me a wee email or pass this on. I am still living in Scotland. Been back here since I left the village. I have loads of happy memories of the village. Went to Discos in the village hall. My dads name is David Hale his wife is Valerie. They stayed in the village after I left to come back to live in Scotland with my grandparents.
