I am looking for information about Rowland Best Griffiths who was born in Tintern in 1885~ he had a sister~ Grace Dorothy. Their mother was Grace Griffiths who died in 1909 in Beaufort Cottage~ Tintern (next to the Abbey). Their father was John Rowland Griffiths who owned the wire works in the area and who died in 1894. My great great grandmother Jane Jones was Grace Griffiths's cousin~ they lived together from the ages of 10 - 30. Jane was married to a Harry Wallis in the church in Tintern in 1890.

• Hi Julia. I am Newport RFC Historian and have a certain amount of info about Rowland Best Griffiths - mainly his rugby career. I was fascinated to see that he was born in Tintern. I was born in St Arvans but now live in Cardiff. Do you happen to have Rowland's exact DOB? I think it was ca March 1885. Do you know also where he died. I believe he died from typhoid at an early age on 11th May 1914.

I am putting this message in the guest book in the hope that someone from Llanishen can help me.**My family John and Martha Lewis farmed in the viilage at Hill Farm along with their daughter Elizabeth Howells.**I have been trying to find out where thet are buried without luck.**I have looked through a site listing burials at St Denis Church~Llanishen and they are not buried there.**They all passed away in Llanishen so can anyone tell me was there another graveyard in Llanishen or close by.**Martha Lewis died 11 December 1891**John Lewis died December Qtr 1907**Elizabeth Howells died 29 June 1929**I look forward to hearing from you****Alvin Morgan

I am looking for Hill Farm~ Llanishen~ Monmouthshire. My family lived at the farm from the 1890's their names were John and Martha Lewis and their daughter Elizabeth Howells.**Martha passed away December Qtr 1891 and John Lewis passed away September Qtr 1910. Their daughter was still alive in 1915 age 60 years.**I have looked for their burial site without luck. It appears they were not buried at the local Church.I would like to know where the nearest burial grounds to the village.**I am eager to visit the area and visit the graves of my family.**Can anyone help me please.****Alvin

I am researching the War Memorial at Penallt and **wonder if anyone has any idea as to the exact identity of a Private E. Cope who **died in WWI and a Noel Richards who died in WWII. So far I have been uable to **get a form identity for these. I know that a George Cope lived in Whitebrook in **1915 and there may be a connection there. Anyone who can help resolve this **mystery that is now at least 90 years old for E.Cope and 60 years old for Noel **Richards is welcome to contact me. Each November it would be nice **to remember each servicemen who died by reading out the full name and with E. **Cope we are unable to do this.In addition I am writing a small booklet **for both Penallt and Trelech church identifying thewar dead of both communities **and this information would make it complete.

Does anyone remember Loudon Lodge? It was owned by the Methodist Church~ **probably still is. Last time I seen it was about six years ago and it had **almost fallen into ruin

I used to live near Aberystwyth in Wales and my neighbours were Bryan and Val **Walters. They moved to Scotland and we visited them there. They then moved to **the Forest of Dean~ I believe Coleford~ and we visited them there. Bryan was a **writer and had a yellow Suzuki type minivan and worked in Gloucester~ Val was **a teacher. They had two children by Bryan's first wife and one of their own. I **have lost touch with them and would be grateful for any information that helps **me find them.
