  jan mere was jean meredith she painted birds as i recall,her son was my pal thru school into the 70's fromlate 60,s. i last had contact with them about 1977 i think they moved from timperley around that time.
  i should imagine jean to be in her late 70's now maybe her married name was brook.hope that helps

In reply to Sandi (school in Timperley opposite Battman nursery on Deansgate Lane)****The school in question was St Andrews Primary School which closed in the mid 1980s and was replaced by a small development of 4 houses which front St Andrews Avenue.****The Battman nursery closed in June 2008 and planning permission has been granted for a children's nursery~ medical centre and large nursing home. Work has yet to start although this may be down to the current economic situation. The Gardeners Arms pub is still there and just about trading.****The Battman family still own the houses either side of the former Battman nursery****Hope this proves of use

I am looking for decendants of William~ Frank~ Arthur~ John~ Laura~ Evelyn~ Margaret or Eric Brown. They were all born in Swinton Lancashire between 1893 & 1909 to William James and Annie Brown. Laura & Evelyn died some time in the mid to late 1970's~ John migrated to Australia (Townsville I think). I know Laura Brown never married & may have adopted a child around 1950. I am a decendant of the sister of these people.

Hi there~ I am looking to find out more about MICHAEL BUSHELL (born 1860 Roscommon~ Ireland) He owned The Suburban Hotel in Cross Street Gorton in the late 1890's and was also a member of Gorton District Council (including two years as chairman). He married Amelia OGDEN in 1895 and she ran The Suburban Hotel from around 1900 (whilst he ran another hotel in Chorlton Street Manchester)~until his death in 1911.
