I recently stopped over in Epwell to check out is any of my Ancestors could be found in the Churchyard. I was lucky enough to discover 2 David Hunt Born 1857 and died 1924, and John Hunt born c1860 died c1910 or 1913. The gravestone for the latter was very weathered. Both these were my great Grand Uncles. I unfortuneatly could not find any other gravestones for my family. However, I would be interested to hear if there are any family of either David or John still in Epwell. My Great Grandfather was the brother of David and John and was Clarke Hunt who married a Maria Harvey c 1873 . If anyone has any information I would be most grateful to hear.

I have just come across and registered on your website.
I am primarily researching EDDEN in Epwell and Brailes, but have read the previous postings. I have GILKES in some of my records too.
I am trying to find my 3 x great grandfather James EDDEN born between 1794-1801.
My 2 x great grandfather was John EDDEN c. 05 12 1819 in Brailes.
My great grandfather was Josiah EDDEN who was christened 24 10 1847 in epwell and married Hannah HITCHMAN in 1852 in Hook Norton. They lived in Epwell all their lives.
I have a beautiful very tiny photograph of the family in Epwell taken round about 1920 and will willingly scan it and forward it on, if this web site permits photos. They lived at number 10, number 18 and number 22 Epwell, according to the census of 1841-1891 respectively.
I would love to share genealogy information with anyone who wants to.

• Hi Graham, I have a part copy of a privately published 'pamphlet' in 1966 .....and The HANDS of Tredington and Newbold, England. The tree in it is an ancestor tree going to a John HANDS, born circa 1685. It's not my lot but the author, when in South Africa, does try to make contact with some of my distant relatives. I am currently studying the HANDS of Dorsington 1790s (possibly from Long Compton). Again, not my lot. My lot were from Yardley around 1300. Mike

My 3rd g grandfather~ Daniel POTTER~ married Mary JOHNSON in Shipston in 1806. She was born in Blackwell in 1780. Her parents were married in Tredington in 1767.**They were William JOHNSON & Mary HARRISON both (apparently) born in Blackwell. I am having some trouble finding any records regarding that couple. Which parish records covered Blackwell at that time (1730-1745) ?**Can anyone please help.

I have recently begun researching my family history and have discovered that my great-great-great grandfather was born in Tredington in 1816~ he moved to Eatington (Ettington)~ found in census~ married Hannah ? and had 6 children~ are there still Petty's in Ettington?

My G.G.Grandparents lived in Ettingon (Eatington)between 1851 - 1871 + their names being Thomas & Lucy Stock.**It is known they had a large family with my G.Grandfather being their son Edward (he married a Mary Ann Talbot from Lighthorne). I write to ask if there any Stock family members still living in Ettington or the surrounding villages/area? also if there are any graves in the churchyard with Stock on the headstones. It is my intention to visit the area next year on holiday and research this side of the family tree**

My Mother was a Faulkner~ Her Grandfather John Faulkner was from Butlers Marston~ Son of Joeseph Faulkner from Lighthorne~I'm interested in any relations left in B~ M.**I do think that ther are some left and they can help trace **the tree with me~ I've visited B M last summer and went around the church grounds~ can you help??
