My Grandfather was a member of the Prussian Hermits in 1907~ which according to Stapleton & Co's Topographical History of Canterbury (!838) met at the Crown and Scepter~ St Peter's Street Canterbury~ every Wednesday evening at eight o'clock. Has anybody any further information?****Malcolm

looking for descendents of Sidders / Jarvis family in the Bridge~ Kent area or possibly of Dover area: my ancestor's name was Charlotte Ann Jarvis~ who claimed she was born in Dover in 1875 and that her father's name was Thomas## but this may be incorrect. She married John Jarvis of Bridge~ Kent~ and they emigrated in 1906 to Canada. I am hoping some Jarvis or Sidders descendents are still in or around the Bridge area.

i am looking for any info on my great grandad frederick marshall~the family originated from midley on the romney marsh.his first wife was mary ann who died in 1917~he then went onto marry a winnifred baldwin marshall who had a child called rose anna baldwin marshall.this sonecond wife died at the poor union house at tothill in minster kent~rose anna was then bought up by her father and his third wife lucy may hatcher.they moved away from monkton in the 1930s and when they did return it appears frederick did not come back with them and we believe he passed away.lucy and rose lived at gore street cotts monkton and then they dissappeard aswell.is there anyone who knows what did happen to frederick~or lucy or even rose anna?i am the grand daughter of fredericks son samuel james marshall who married a dorothy may bailey and had three children~muriel dorothy(my mother)maurice henery and gladys kathleen.frederick also had other children~one ~frederick john died in ww1.if you have any info please contact me.margaret B.

A friend in Canada is trying to find the grave site of his great grandfather. He was Willam Maxwell who died 18/07/1877 in Blackheath Lee Kent. He was married at the Congregational Church in Blackheath in 1873 to Mary Elizabeth Dobell. Can anyone suggest which graveyard would likely to have been used at that time.

I have my family searched back to William and Elizabeth (Kennett) Stevens of Crundale. Their daughter Charlotte married a Stephen Woodcock of Lewisham and they had two children before her death in 1838. The children were cared for by Wm and Eliz until 1848 when they went to Canada to live with John Smith (b 1815) as his children. The children were: Sarah Woodcock(b 1834) and William Stevens Woodcock(b 1836)****I cannot find Stephen nor can I find a Smith connection except that Stephen's mother's maiden name was Smith.

I went to school here from 1966 until 1972. I then went to the 'top school' this is what I remember calling the secondary school. I have fond memories of sports day and walking up the path in the trees to get to the top school!****I also attended the secondary school~ but only for a year or two before we moved out of the area.
