I have traced my ancestors back to Winterborne~ Kingston~ Dorset. Reuben Mitchell and his wife Elizabeth. There were 2 daughters that I know of Anne born in 1785 and Julia born in 1797. Julia married Benjamin Jordan Holloway.**Any information on them would be gratefully received.

Frances Brown
West Morden, Dorset (3.5 miles away)
My name is Frances Brown (nee Turner) which is the name I am researching. According to my father he used to visit an uncle in West Morden when a boy (not sure when) but according to him the uncles name was Alf or Alfred Turner who lived in a cottage in the village of West Morden. My father is dead now so do not know much about Alf. I wonder if anyone knows this name and if he is buried in the churchyard there? If anyone has any information regarding him can you please give me any dates of when he lived there or died there. Thanking you in anticipation.## Fran Brown (nee Turner)

I am looking for my grandfather's sister or brother who lived in the village of Morden in the 1950-60's maybe they are buried there. Am researching family tree~ My grandfather James Edwin Turner was born in Cerne Abbas. Does anyone know the Turner family. His brother was called Frederick and a sister called Lillie. Thank you would be glad to hear of any knowledge of this name.

Moreton, Dorset (4.3 miles away)
Greetings from Christchurch~ New Zealand.**I have just hit the jackpot but need some help from Moreton villagers!!!**I am doing my family history and one of the mailing lists I belong to had information about a free census site~ http://freecen.rootsweb.com~ I was so lucky to find two of the families I am researching in the 1891 census~ so far~ in the Birmingham~ and Warwickshire area. It's so exciting to find the information included~ correcting information handed down to me~ or~ perhaps creating new ones!**However~ the biggest breakthrough is the information about my Great Grandmother~ it has been such a 'mystry' and could have been a brick wall without the census information including the birth place for her~ Moreton~ Dorset. The only mystry now is to find out her surname and her circumstances. Flora M is the name given on the census~ I believe her middle name is Mary/Marguerite and the maiden name of her mother according to a family member~ could be TOUNS~ (Hannah~ my Grandmother~ Flora's daughter has TOWNS given as second forename~ but this spelling was wrong according to family member). Flora's mother is said to have been French~ somewhere near the Spanish border. That is all I know of her~ I have no information about Flora's father not even the surname. The story goes that Flora became a orphan and inherited some money~ she was taken into the care of a family~ a relative? The two surnames that are said to be connected with Flora are REID (or other spelling) and FOX. I do not know how the parents of Flora died~ together or seperatly.**Flora according to a family member~ becomes a Governess/Nanny to a wealthy? family living in or near Forfar~now in Angus~ Scotland. Her first husband John HOPTON~(HOPETON) also works for the same family on their estate as a game keeper~ as did his father Joseph HOPTON~ his wife being Sara Ann HUGHES.**Flora and John left Forfar and go to Birmingham were I found them in the 1891 census. John dies and Flora remarries Albert Edward ROSE~ she died about 1934 and is buried in Witton Cemetary~ Birmingham. **I would love to know the 'true' story of Flora and her family~ I have not got any certificates for births~ marriages~ deaths to date~ but with Flora's Moreton~ Dorset connection and her age on the census~ 26~ her birth year 1865~ or approximate~ I can start a search of the index at the local Family History Centre with the knowledge of location.**Any further information would be terrific and the brick wall would come tumbling down!!**Thanks for reading this bit of my family history~ and if anyone in Moreton would like to contact me about village life now and what it was like around 1865 or Moretons history I would be most interested.**Thanks~ Helen** **
