A number of Coles are listed in the Lamport Parish Registers (marriages) in the late 1500's and early to mid 1600's . John Cole(s) and Anne Yorke were married in Lamport~ Northamptonshire in 1632~ sailed to New England and settled in Hartford~ Connecticut) soon after marriage. There are now many living Cole descendants in the USA from this marriage. I wonder if there are any living Cole descendants still in England who can trace their ancestry back to Lamport? They had a son also named Joseph born 1865 and was married to Sarah Ann Smtih born 1874 in Barleston Leicestershire. I am a direct decendant of these people. My maternal grandmother's name was Emily Annie Bettle. Her father~ Crick Bettle~ was born in Kingsthorpe~ Northampton c.1813. I should be very pleased to hear if there any of the Bettle family still in the area. Crick married Ann Ager in 1836 but had no children. He then appears to have started a family with Elizabeth Stedman and one of their many children was Emily~ my grandmother. ****Chris Brown
