I would like to have info on the MARTIN family that lived in Chelsham at 'Heathfield Cottage' at least during WW1. ANGELO MARTIN was mentioned by my grandfather. He was born in Caterham and was a groom. He died in 1915, aged 23 and our family have some personal information about him which possibly his family if he has any, might be interested in. I would like to know if anyone knows if there are any relatives alive whom I could contact, or anything about the family at the time of WW1.

I have relatives that come from Banstead dating back to 1700. I am keen to found any further information of the family of William Shallcross & Elizabeth Newett~ both buried at Banstead William in 1816~ Elizabeth in 1823. I would be very happy to hear from anyone with connections to this family.

• I am descended from the above William Shallcrass and Elizabeth Newett. I have some information of the family, particularly a branch which lead to William Shallcrass born 1799 (Married Eliza Davis) to Robert Shallcrass born 1819 who emmigrated and eventually arrived in New Zealand and lived a distinguished career as a Police Superintendant. My paternal family tree shows a William Shallcross of Farleigh and it appears he may be buried in the churchyard there in 1730 along with his wife Sarah in 1767. Several other generations are also buried at Farleigh. I would love to hear from anyone who has any connection or knowledge of my family.

• Yes William Shallcross of Farleigh (died 1730 and buried on June 3rd at Farleigh)first married Mary Constable on April 13 1699 at Banstead, I presume she died, his second wife was Sarah who died Jan 12 1767 aged 97 and buried at Farleigh. It would appear that this William Shallcross was the son of Jasper Shallcross of Banstead who married Ann.... who died a widow in 1795 and was busried at Banstead on Sept 30.
  This information comes from a photocopy I have, of a document by Mr. Jasper R Shallcrass investigating the derivation of the name Shallcrass, from the original Shallcross. Attached to this I also have photocopies of a geology entitled "Pedigree No. 1" which starts with Robert Shallcrass b 1803 at Banstead, and another entitled "Pedigree No. II" which commences William Shallcrass d 1816 and Elizabeth Newett d 1833 which leads through the generations to my mother, Kathlyn Kenyon (nee Shallcrass). I have bits and pieces of other stuff too. Would be happy to post photocopies to you.

Used to have a girlfriend Lesley Card from 1963 to 1965 living at 60 Kingscroft Road~ Woodmansterne~ whose father also worked~ like myself~ with British Railways. I wonder if any one knows about the whereabouts of members of this wonderful family. Since 1971 all of my working life has been spent in south-west Germany.

Looking for information about Bray family who lived in Chipstead from approx 1830 onwards. David and Jane Bray had 9 children. David Bray was a wheelwright and Jane Bray worked as Post Mistress at the Post Office for about 10 years (1871-1881). Their daughter Charlotte took on a position as Sub Post Mistress sometime after 1881. Any information or photos would be appreciated. Thank you!

CHARLES ROBERT DAY died at 53 Robertsbridge Road~ last known his daughter Joyce Lane (nee Day) living here - does anyone know of her son and family ROBERT LANE. Same road lived Joyces sister DOROTHY E M DAY possiby married a JACK CRANE and one daughter HAZEL CRANE.**brother RONALD ARTHUR DAY born 1921.**Does anyone have any information on any of the above I have been searching with no luck for years.
