I am tracing family tree on my Mother's side Thornton. Has anyone any information on Joseph Thornton b. 1809 in Duns Tew married Ann Jessett Sept 1842 and his father John Thornton b Abt 1772. Also has anyone any knowledge of the social history od Duns Tew and end of 18th Cent and beginning 19th cent. which may give an indication as to the occupation/profession of the Thorntons at that time**Ralph

  Joseph Thornton's elder sister Elizabeth married John Canning in 1826.
  Some of the later Canning's suffered from a rare inherited muscle disease which I am trying to trace back.My partner and his father both have the disease (Central Core Disease).
  I have the parents of Elizabeth Thornton as John Thornton and Mary Smith.
  Their children were Thomas (1800-1889) married Sarah Wells
  Elizabeth (1803-1851) married John Canning/Cannon
  Joseph (1805-6)
  Laura (1807-1863) married William Stilgoe
  Joseph (1809- ?)
  Sarah (1813- ?1885) married Joseph Goodwin
  I have information on some of the children of these marriages.
  I don't know very much about the Thornton's but do contact me and I will happily pass on the information I do have.

my grandparnts and their parents lived hear on chatterpie lane in the recently redone chatterpie house it was horrible watching the family hom being ruined by this monstrosity of a stupid builders and we all wish we hadn't sold it. my mothers family who owned it name is koenig and all who new them comment's are welcome

I am tracing my husband's family tree surname TIMMS~ it would appear they come from Enstone. I have managed to trace back to Robert Timms Abt 1630 unfortunately the records beyond that point are missing. I believe Robert may well have been the Clerk to the Parish Council and his wife's name was Rachel. If anyone can help me I would be most grateful.
