John Smith b abt 1785 and wife Alice NK b abt 1796 their sons William, Richard and Ralph. Ralph's son James and his son James Arthur all lived in and around Ashton until 1928 when James Arthur, his wife Edith and their children, one being Thomas, my father, moved over to the South Yorkshire coalfield. James Arthur was my grandfather. Are any of these persons remembered? Does anyone have any family history? Please let me know.

Looking for Mosscrop family information. My great grandfather~ Thomas Mosscrop (born 1812) lived on Elliot Street~ Leigh~ Tyldesley with Shakerly~ with his wife Elizabeth as per the 1841 census. They came to the United States the following year with their three sons William~ Thomas and John.

MADDOCKS - I am looking for any family history on my grandfather~ Edwin Maddocks~ born July 8~ 1896 in Leigh~ Lancashire. I don't know his father's name or his mother's name. He had 4 sisters that were older than him: Nellie~ Frances~ Dolly and Elsie. His father was a miner and a wrestler and died around 1899 or 1900. Louisa Catherine Calderbank married Thomas Jones in 1886 in Liverpool.**After having a son~ Edward John born in 1889~ the family moved to Newton Le Willows where they had at least three more children~ Louisa~ bn 1892~ John~ bn 1895~ and William bn 1898. **The family with their children listed above are on the 1901 Census for this town.**Does anyone have a relationship to these family members or know any thing about them. Families: Hewlett~ Senior~ Hilton and Caldwell. I am trying to track down some relatives who our family lost track of around the 1950's. I am in Australia but my grandmother (Alice Hewlett) was born in Westhoughton in 1904 - probably at 28 Manchester road. Her father was James Hewlett - is sisters were Elizabeth~ Mary and Jane~ his mother was Ane (nee Mawdsley)and father was Thomas. All worked in the pits or cotton milss (surprise!). ****James who migrated to Oz in 1910 was married to Margaret (Maggie) Hilton (AKA Caldwell or Goldwell). Maggies siters were Anne~ Alice~ Jane~ Elizabeth and brother John. Other relatives were the Seniors some of whom my Gran remembered dying in the Pretoria pit disaster of 1910. The families lived in Wingates~ Daisy Hill~ Wigan and Westhoghton mainly.****I am coming to UK in April so would like to look up the rels if possible. Any info would be useful. I can share what I have found and old pics including ols postcards of Bolton area. Cheers David~ Sydney Australia.

my father was born there in hampson street in 1907. all the wright family resided there for a number of years. also the clough family who are relatives~ anyone heard of Leader Disraeli Clough. the wrights looked after the telephone exchange during ww 11~ and bernard wright was an electrician in the mines there. anyone remember any of these families in atherton p[lease mail me. thanks
