I am a descendant of John STILES & Mary WHARTON who moved from Thrandeston Suffolk with their family arounf 1790 down to Islington London~ because of the depression in the East Anglia area~ because of the Industrial Revolution. ****Below are the detaila of John Stiles They also lived in Wrotham nearby.****Descendants of John Stiles****John Stiles 1761 - 1832 d: 1832 in Islington London England b: 1761 in Thrandeston Suffolk England. +Mary Wharton 1760 - 1836 m: 1781 in Thrandeston Suffolk England d: 1836 in Parsonage Green Roydon Norfolk b: 1760 in Thrandeston Suffolk England****Mary STILES~ nee Wharton died in Roydon~ I suspect that she moved back to Suffolk after the death of John to be with her family. John had 17 children~ but I cannot believe that May had them~ possible he may have had a secound wife called Mary COPPIN.****I look forward for feedback****

I am researching an ancestor named James Carman and his wife Harriet Clark. James was born about 1778 although I think the record I have may be wrong and it's 1787. He claims on the census that he was born in South Lopham Suffolk. The potential parent I am looking at as his says North Lopham Norfolk. Could these be an error. I assum when he stated for the census that he was born in South Lopham he knew that. Are they close together? Could there be some other error that is frequently made?**I would appreciate any comments that might shed light on this.**Thank you and regards~**J Phelan

Hello, I am a great-grandson of Kate D'Oyly Gale born 21.02.1853. I have some information on the family. Her father, Col. Alexander Robinson Gale, was apparently Master of Horse to Ferdinand-Philippe, Duke of Orléans - not too good a one, it seems, as the Duke was killed when his carriage horses bolted. His father was an army Captain with the same name. KDG's mother was Maria Susan Amelia Haines, born around 1830 in the Nilgiri Hills in India to a Indian Army surgeon, William Haines. KDG married Henry Edmonstone Medlicott of Devizes in 1874. Please get in touch. George Bird, Edinburgh - georg27.22mc@gmail.com

I'm tracing my grandmother's family. Her grandfather~ Thomas Noble~ was born in Bressingham in 1838. When his brother was baptised in Roydon Parish Church~ their father William was a farm labourer at Darragh Farm. Does anyone know where Darragh Farm was - it sounds to me as though it might be Darrow Farm - there's a Darrow Lane close to Roydon~ I think. Does anyone have any local history knowledge on this? Thanks for your help.
