I am researching reseaching my 4th Great Grandfather Moses Turner or Turnham who was baptised in the village of Stone in 1789. He was married to Jemina and they had two children~ one of whom was Joseph Turner/Turnham [born 1825 in Buckinghamshire]. Moses Turner/Turnham was involved in the Captain Swing riots of the late 1820's and was transported to Van Dieman's Land [Tasmania] for Machine Breaking~ arriving there Aug 4th 1831. Moses received a "Free Certificate" in 1839. Initially Jemina and her children remained in Stone until 1834 when Joseph Turner/ Turnham migrated to the Australian colonies

I am investigating a reported aircraft crash in the Weedon area~ purportedly during the summer of 1940. As the archivist for the Bristol Aero Collection~ based at Kemble airfield (just S of Cirencester)~ I am interested in an aircraft compass recently donated to us. The donor tells us that the compass was removed by a then schoolboy friend~ from a Spitfire which had crashed near to the farm on which he was staying during the summer of 1940. Unfortunately~ the compass in question was not of the type fitted to Spitfires! I am therefore~ interested to learn of any aircraft crashes during WW2 that might have occured in the Weedon area. This might help us to positively provide accurate information for a display card~ to accompany the compass display. Any help much appreciated . My address is - Brockstone. Buckland Road~ BAMPTON~ Oxon OX18 2AA**Tel. 01993 850182

My gggg grandfather was Daniel Keinch - born in Swanbourne in 1783. He (and **his family) ran a butcher's shop in Whitchurch high street until his death in **1855. He is buried in the local churchyard. Have been to Keinches Lane - just **as you enter the village - perhaps that was where they were (?). If anyone **knows anything about this family (including Daniel's grandson John Keinch~ born **Whitchurch 1840 died North Marston 1892) I will be very grateful!

I have a needlework picture from ca. the 1830's-60's labelled "The Rectory House~ Halton." ****Unfortunately~ it doesn't specify which Halton. The building is in the gothic style~ two storeyed~ with a single storeyed~ crenellated addition at the left end~ and another freestanding single storey building to the right. There are 3 chinmney stacks on the main building.****My email address is maccrisken@aol.com and if anyone thinks he or she might recognize this building~ I would very much appreciate it if (s)he would email me. I could then send a picture. I would also like to know whether or not this building is still standing.****Thanks so much!
