My Dad (James Forbes More) was born in Portmoak 1910 and~ following the death of his mother (Margaret More) 1919 he was brought up (under the name Jimmy Johnston) by his grandparents George & Jessie Johnston at Loanhead Avenue~ Lochore. His dad (James Johnstone) remarried Magdelen Bremner (nee Garvie) and lived at Inchgail Avenue~ Crosshill until his death in 1965.**Does anyone have any info about either the MORE or JOHNSTON family? Many thanks..

My dad~ also Jim Lee~ was born in Glencraig on May 2~ 1915 at~ I believe~ 1 Burnside Cottage. His dad~ Michael Lee~ was a fireman in one of the local collieries and emigrated to the USA in 1926~ looking for a new life for his family following the General Strike. My dad~ his mom Charlotte Lindsay Lee~ and my dad's younger brother and sister followed Michael in 1927 and settled in Kearney~ New Jersey (a very Scottish burgh at that time). My dad loved Scotland and his Scottish heritage~ but never returned~ even for a visit~ because of the sad memories connected to the mines and the hardships endured in that life. When he was very old (he died in 1997) I think he grieved not having "gone home again"~ so in his memory I just wanted to "touch base" in some way with his birthplace --I was glad to happen upon this website and thus this message. My dad's family's most well-known member was his frst cousin~ Jennie Lee (Nye Bevan's "better half"~ who was the daughter of my grandfather Michael's brother. Even if no one reads this missive I feel as if I accomplished my mission. Thanks. **********************i

Hi James, we might also be related, my dad was Michael Lee born in lumphinnans in 1933. He always said Jenny Lee was his cousin. I dont know if she was a first or second cousin and my efforts to make the connection have been hampered as I can not get far enough back. I believe there are Irish connections somewhere but I dont know which part of Ireland to search. If you have any info I would be greatful. Elizabeth Hunter Crosshill Fife.

Hi James My gran was Margaret (Greta) Lee who was 1st cousin to Jenny Lee. She married Hugh Smith and her dad was Michael Peter Lee. My grans brother was Michael Lee who moved to America married and had three daughters who I keep up with. I remember Myra (45ish) one of the girls looking for her half brother when in Scotland 15 years ago and was disappointed not to find him. Dawn Jones Crossgates fife (45)

I used to live at 25 Park Street~ Crosshill~ before moving to Canada in 1958. Grandparents were John and Mary Easton~ mother's name Isabel. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers us~ or anyone I went to primary school with. My last teacher was Mrs. Barnes~ who hailed from Ireland. Also had Miss Page~ and Miss Foote. Headmaster in my time was Mr. Hood. Anyone out there remember them?
