We are trying to find Edith White Born 1908 worley terrace low fell, believe she went to Braintree Essex in 1917/19 parents Alfred and Martha Jane~ Brother Alfred Born 1906 in chowdene bank chowdene terrace Low Fell. We believe a child hilda born early and died 1905 from robson st low fell child martha born 1912 died 1914 child george born 1916 cannot trace death.

Two questions - please help!**1. Has anyone heard of the Paradise Sunday School? I have a lovely photo of the teaching staff taken in 1912. Perhaps you could help identify some of them. Please send your email address and I will forward a copy.**2. Two different branches of my family are from the Longbenton area. The first group are called Mansfield and Lappage and have their roots in Essex although both have Northumberland coalminers amongst them.**The second bunch originate in Cumberland and moved to the Longbenton area and also down into Co Durham in the mid to late 1900s. Their names were Dent and Haughan (pronounced Haffan).**The other names included in the surnames of interest have married into these families.**I would very much appreciate any further information.**Best wishes....

Her fathers name was Thomas William and Rachel was her mothers name. Thomas was a coal miner. Elsie was killed in London in 1960 when my father was 15. My father Richard Gallagher~ always said he lived in part of an old castle when a small child. I have just received his full birth certificate and the address given is 16 Turret Place~ Blaydon !! So maybe it wasn't a childish fantasy! However no sign of this adress on current maps. Anybody know where it might have been?

hello just wondering as just found this site if anyone knows anything of the laws family that lived in jesmond one brother james(jim) laws born 1890 lived at short ridge terrace and was a painter and decorater he married margaret earnshaw and had two girls sylvia laws and joyce laws his brother who stayed in newcastle was ROBERT (sid) his other siblings moved to lincoln one being my grandad norman laws wondered if the family that survived them knew any reason why they moved to lincoln they moved about 1912 and the reason was given was the jarrow march but this wasnt the case as that was in 1935-6 thankyou

Would anyone have any information on a company called Henry A Murton of 6~8~ & **10 Grainger Street Newcastle upon Tyne~ they also had an address at 16~ **Fawcett Street Sunderland. They described themselves as 'Makers' but there is **no indication as to what they made~ this information was taken from an old **ivory or bone label which appeared to come from a sharpening stone or **carborundum stone. Any information will be helpful~ if it proves of interest to **any museum I am happy to send it at no cost.
