I am looking for information for Arthur Thomas Houfe married Eliza Tweddall 1900 @ Thirsk, had one child there then moved into Bishop Auckland where rest of children where born. Eliza died 1926. I believe the same Arthur T Houfe remarried to a Margaret Knaggs 1926 @ Darlington can anyone confirm this please? They lived Shildon & Heighington areas. Are you researching same families or heard the story that Arthur might have been born in Germany? Did this Arthur reside at Bay Tree Road, Darlington?

  I have just e-mailed you through Genes Reunited. Thompson Bainbridge Grey was by 4th great grandfather, but I think you'll find that Robert was Robert Palister Grey.

• Hi Sandy.I have traced part of my family tree with the surname Heighington.It appears the family originated in Sedgefield,Co Durham.The name moved onto Sowerby Bridge,West Yorkshire (near Halifax) and then onto Sheffield working in the steel industry.A lot of Heighingtons around the turn of the century moved over to Canada where a lot of Heighingtons are around Ontario.I have relations named Heighington over there.Unfortunatly my lap top was stolen recently with all the details, so I have to start again !!

My grandad~ Martin Gallagher played football for St Josephs~ Coundon. They won the Auckland Nursing Cup and the BAAFC (Bishop Auckland Amateur Football Cup?) in 1933/34. I have his football medals and a miniature silver trophy. I would be gratefil if anyone has old photographs of the team that might include my grandad.**I am also trying to find out about the Cockin and Goundry families from Coundon. Uriah Cockin married Isabella Goundry in 1847.**

Her mum was Elizabeth Wilson and her grandfather John Wilson~ who I believe was a local councillor. She had an Uncle Joseph whose family I am hoping may still live in the area. They were Quakers. Hello.I am Canadian by birth but my father and Grandfather and Grandmother were from the Village of Newfield in the County of Durham.They immigrated to Canada in December 1928 and settled in the City of Windsor Ontario.I have been interested in my family tree for some time but as most of us siblings were not the closest throughout the years there really has been no info as to time and places.What i can tell you is that the family name Laing figures prominently in the tree as Hannah Laing and Edward Laing were from the village and that he was a coal miner and that they had 4 daughters:Mary~Sarah(my grandmother)~Barbara and Hannah 2nd.Sarah Laing married Geroge Bromley(died in WW1)and had one daughter Hannah(my Aunt Betty)3rd.Sarah Laing Bromley remarried to William H Smith and they had 2 sons Edward Laing Smith(my father) and William(Bill)Smith.I am sending along a picture that they had taken at Chester-Le Street(I am hoping that is the right spelling?).If anyone has any info regarding this family or knows of anyone directly or indirectly related~it would be appreciated to hear from such ones.Thank you for taking the time to read this email.
