I am looking for information on the Langford family from Thorncombe. Thomas Langford about 1800 to 1879~ I have no history of the family before Thomas. I also do not have any information on Thomass wife Mary Cornelius or her family. Thomas and Mary had a son James Cornelius Langford about 1830 to 1886. I know that Jamess wifes first name was Mary but have no information other than this. Any information would be gratefully appreciated

  I would be very interested to see if our lines connect. I have managed to trace my Langford line back to John Langford 1769-1846. I know John died in Thorncombe Dorset but where born I do not know. He married Betty Phelps of Thorncombe.

  The forenames of these people all tie up with my ancestors from Chard and Taunton they were weavers, my own branch moved to Spitalfields in London c.1790 I reckon there is an excellent chance that these are the people you are looking for. They were nonconformists, I'm still researching them but have alot of hitory back to about 1640, E mail me if wish and then I can attach the tree I have up to yet with some additional information. Looking for decendants of George Turner (b:1830~ Chard) and Elizabeth (nee Hitchcock~ Dorset) who lived in Chilson Common~ Somerset~ on 1871 and 1881 UK census. Their children were: Sarah~ Rhoda~ Samuel~ Louisa~ Alice~ John and Thomas (twins)~ Reuben~ Ada~ Mabel and George - it is this George from whom my branch decend.

My childhood dentist in the 1950s~ Mr Geoff Harper~ retired to Wambrook. I wanted to let him know that 50years on~ thanks to his skill~ I still have a fine set of my own white teeth!**He extracted so many~ to make space for my second set~ I always expected to see him wearing a necklace of my teeth!**I still have the card notifying his patients of his practice move to 11 Maple Road~ Brooklands~ Cheshire circa 1960.

Shellacre ? What?s does this name mean to the people of Monkton Wyld?**My name is David Leedham and I am descended~ through my maternal family line~ from the name of Shelacre / Shellaker. The name is quite rare and only appears originally in the east Leicestershire / Rutland area~ where I have successfully traced a direct line back around 400 years.**I recently noted the name ?2 Shelacre? in the minutes of the Cher Valley Parish council minutes from 12th January 2004. Can anybody tell me to what this relates? Is it a street name? Or the name of a house?**Can any local historian let me know where this name originated? Is it a local name?
