Fromes Hill, Herefordshire (1.7 miles away)
I am trying to find any information on a John Cole and his wife Mary James and their families. John was from Fromes Hill born 17 Feb. 1799 and Mary was from Bishop's Fromme born 7 Aug. 1800. Am trying to find any information on their siblings and their parents who I believe are from the same area. Any information would be greatly appreciated.**

I am searching Benjamin Davis son of John. Found a Benjamin born in Castle Frome~ Hereford~ England on 13 May 1750. This would be the right time and the only Benjamin with a John as father (mother Sarah).****I was curious as to the town~ and I am glad I found your site. Great site. This is the ideal English town. Maybe I will visit.****

My grandfather~ William BAYNHAM~ a colliery sinker always told me he was born in Symonds Yat. ****I have a copy of his marriage certificate which shows he married Elizabeth TOMLINS in the Parish of Arksey~ Yorkshire~ on 1st August 1907. Elizabeth's father~ a colliery sinker was Joseph TOMLINS.** **Elizabeth lived at the Bentley Lees Colliery Cottages~ and William in Doncaster Road~ South Elmsall. Both were then aged 20. ****William's Father~ Richard BAYNHAM~ also a colliery sinker is listed as deceased. ****I now believe that Richard was born 6th June 1852 in Bishops Frome~ Herefordshire and died 7th August 1901. I am told he is buried in Christchurch Churchyard~ Brampton Bierlow.****Richard married Judith HAWKINS~ who was born 20th November 1856 in Upper Lane~ Belper~ Derbyshire. I have no record of her death. They had nine children. After Richard's death~ I am told that Judith remarried~ surname BRANNON. She later left him as "he was a no good and rumour says responsible for her son~ George's death." George was born in November 1894 and died 31st July 1911~ aged 16. I believe he is buried in Gresford Churchyard.****My great great grandfather was Robert BAYNHAM~ lived Parsonage~ Bishops Frome~ Herefordshire. He married Sarah BAYNES~ who was possibly born in 1813.****A recent correspondent~ Brian Harris of the Herefordshire Family History Society~ found the following details in the index of the 1851 Herefordshire census.****"Bishops Froome:-**Robert Baynham 38~ Sarah 30~ Emma 3~ George 7~ Elizabeth 10~ William 4 and Mary Ann 6. The only one I found in 1881 locally was George who was unmarried and lodging in Worcester and giving age as 34."****Does anyone out there have more detailed information on any of the above?****I am interested to discover where the TOMLINS line comes from.****Cheers~****Frank BAYNHAM****Trying to locate BAYNHAM~ 1800s. My great great grandfather~ Robert BAYNHAM~ in particular. He was a labourer~ born around 1813~ lived Parsonage~ Bishops **Frome. Married Sarah BAYNES~ born about 1813. Their childrenincluded Richard BAYNHAM~ my great grandfather~ born 6th June 1852. He became a pit sinker and left the village. finishing up in Yorkshire~ UK. Contact frank.baynham@virgin.net with any information. Thanks~ Frank.
