I am trying to compile a family tree for my children and believe that many of my relatives came from around , Bosham, Westbourne , Southbourne , Portsmouth and Emsworth. my great grand mother was Bessie Cooper Nee Denham, GGrandfather was David Cooper and my biological Grandfather was Richard Frogbrooke. my grandmother later married John Burch. I also remeber an Aunt Nell, Aunt May surname may have been Carpenter and Uncle Ron Randall. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

My grandmother talked about a 'Miss Baxendale' in Stoughton and was sent a Red Cross parcel from Herbert Baxendale of Canton Massachusetts in 1947 (I have the Customs Declaration). I would be interested to know any details about the family.

My grandfather~Bert Henson~ was chauffeur to the Christie family at Lordington W Sussex from about 1910/11 until WW2 when he moved to Southampton.My Dad was born in the cottages by the Church in 1912 and he had 2 sisters~ Evelyn and Violet who is now 87.I don't suppose anyone in the area remembers them after all these years ??

My husband and I are visiting Birdham in April 2007. We have addresses from 1830's which we will need to find where these addresses are in 2007. The lists of addresses are as follows:49 Mill House Rd~ Birdham 49 Almodington. Sidlesham 92 Woddhorn Rd~ Birdham Church Cottage Birdham 44 Church Cottage~ Birdham 42 Wandiemens Cottage~ Birdham 90 Guys Farm in West Wittering**88 Village of Mill in Sidlesman**Alley Cottage near mill in SidleshamWe don't know whether these cottages are still in existence. We would be most grateful for any information re family names Barnes George Barnes (born 2 January 1831~ Birdham) left Birdham in 1850's~ he was a sailor and he jumped ship in Australia in 1862 from the 'Adriadne'. He lived out his life in Queensland~ Australia he married and produced 8 children. He was my husband's great grandfather. We have the old survey maps of the local area but there are a number of Mill House~ Mill Farm etc which are quite confusing. **If there is anyone who knows anything about the Barnes family father William born 30 July 1797 in Sidlesham and his wife Phebe Barber born 6 July 1807 South Hayling **and married 4 October 1825 at St James Church~ Birdham. William and Phebe were George Barnes' parents. We have not been able to progress further back than William Barnes born 1797 in Sidlesham. We cannot find who were the parents of William. We are thinking maybe he was illegitmate~ we don't really know.**We would be grateful for any information ie graves or relatives. John Palmer RN~ purser of HMS Sirius the flagship of the First fleet to bring convicts to Australia and later commissary General of the new colony had roots in Stoughton~ Sussex and Westbourne. He was an important person in the history o the new colony. I am looking for any relatives of the Palmer family of Stoughton circa 1590~ Westbourne circ 1600-1650~ their descendants went to Portsmouth~ Hambledon and environs and John Palmer RN born 1760 sailed to Australia 1788. They are believed to be descended from the family of Ralph Palmer c 1307 of Steyning~ Sussex.
